Ecuador rocked by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake, but there are no signs of any major damage.
On the early mornings of August 12, 2010 Ecuador was hit with a 6.9 magnitude earthquake. Though its magnitude was strong enough to cause major damage, the quake occurred deep beneath the earth's surface. It was almost 118 km below earth surface so not much was felt on the surface either. Major petroleum manufactures stated that they are running as if it was any other day and there are no major problem occurring due to the earthquake either.
Heavy rain prevents workers in China to find survivors from the devastating land slide.
As the death toll rises even higher after the landslide which occurred in China days earlier, heavy rain makes it harder for rescuers to find survivors. This is the least of China's problems because forecasters predict that the rain will last another 3 -4 days making it nearly impossible to find the remaining 628 people who have gone missing or survivors of this severe tragedy.
